EMPLOYEES SAYS LITTLE MOVEMENT, COUNTY HAS NO COMMENT ON CONTRACT TALKS

October 11, 2017

Mediators will try once again to come up with a contract that Yamhill County employees and management can agree on. The Yamhill County Employees Association has notifed the state that the consider the talks at an impasse.

That prompted the state to bring both sides to the table in a mediation session conducted by the state mediation service.
Another session is set for October 25th. Employees Union reps tell KLYC News there was movement on some of the minor items, but they were disappointed that one major issue had little progress towards resolution. County Counsel had no comment saying they preferred not to mediate through the news media and that talks would continue.
Officially the two sides are in the middle of a 30 day cooling off period. At the end of that, there is a short additional window for procedures and then a strike could be called. Both sides say they want to avoid that.
